Tuition Costs for Various Programs at JSU

Summer 2023 Tuition Rates

Undergraduate In-State and Out-of-State Tuition

For the summer of 2023, undergraduate in-state and out-of-state students at Jackson State University (JSU) will face different tuition rates. In-state students will be charged at $333 per credit hour, while out-of-state students will incur a charge of $665 per credit hour. These rates also apply to international students.

Tuition Fees for 2023-2024 Academic Year

Undergraduate students at JSU will encounter a varied fee structure based on the number of credit hours they undertake. For instance, in-state students taking 1-11 credit hours will be charged $343 per hour, and those taking 12-18 credit hours will face a flat fee of $5145, while the charges for 19 or more credit hours will revert to $343 per hour. Similar fees apply to out-of-state and international students. This includes JSU’s block rate tuition plan, which incentivizes students to enroll in 15-18 hours per semester to promote graduation within four years while saving on time and costs.

Graduate and Doctoral Tuition Costs

For the 2023-2024 academic year, graduate and doctoral students will face different tuition rates. Graduate traditional hours for in-state and out-of-state students are set at $422 and $686 per credit hour, respectively. Additionally, students pursuing specialized programs, such as Master of Fine Arts and Doctor of Nursing Practice, will face fixed-rate tuition and fees, allowing them to better gauge their overall costs for the duration of their programs. It’s worth noting that these costs do not include program or course-specific fees.

Dual Enrollment and Military Tuition

JSU also offers specialized tuition rates for dual enrollment and military students. In-state and out-of-state dual enrollment students face fees of $168 and $336 per credit hour, respectively. Similarly, military students receive a reduced rate of $250 per credit hour. However, to qualify for this rate, students need to be part of the active components of the US military and apply for the specialized rate each semester through JSU’s Military Student Services office.

While understanding the tuition and fees structure is important, it’s crucial for students to consider other potential costs, such as program or course-specific fees, to adequately plan for their educational expenses at JSU.
