New Athletics Director Joins Regent University

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (July 1, 2022) – Regent University has named Michael W. Allen as its new Director of Athletics. In his new role, Allen will be responsible for overseeing the university’s 11 NCCAA Division I sports and managing all coaches and staff within the Regent Athletics department.

Dr. Joseph Umidi, the executive vice president for Student Life at Regent University, expressed confidence in Allen, stating, “Allen is an accomplished leader with a proven track record in building and developing world-class athletic programs. He is dedicated to serving Regent athletes with excellence, innovation, and integrity. We look forward to continued growth and expansion for Regent Athletics under his leadership.”

Allen brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having held various positions in the athletic realm, including stints as Director of Athletics at The Apprentice School, Athletic Director at StoneBridge School, and Director of Athletics and Head Boys Basketball coach at Norfolk Christian Schools, among others.

Expressing his gratitude for the appointment, Allen remarked, “I am deeply humbled and honored to accept the role of Director of Athletics at Regent University.
